Lanco’s plans to sell Udupi hits regulatory hurdle

Lanco Infratech  ’s plans to sell its 1200 MW Udupi power plant in Karnataka has hit regulatory hurdle. CNBC-TV18 learns that Karnataka government has moved the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) against the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) order that revised tariffs to Rs 4.2-4.3 per unit for Lanco, making it a major setback for the company’s plans to sell its power plant. According to analysts, the biggest policy hurdle for this sale was tariff clarity and after Karnataka government challenged the CERC order, Lanco’s sale plans are back to square one.
