Telecom Italia signs renewable energy deal with A2A

Telecom Italia has signed an agreement with Italian utility company A2A to buy electricity produced exclusively from renewable sources with a view to covering the energy requirements of all its units over the next two years. The operator is currently the second biggest electricity user in Italy and the deal with A2A will allow it to cut CO2 emissions by over 70 percent, said the partners. The deal was announced at the first 'Telecom Italia Energy Day', which is part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week. The initiative, which will be repeated next year at the Milan Expo 2015 world fair, aims to share best practice and the most innovative strategies for energy efficiency, environmental protection and corporate social responsibility.
