Inox Wind Limited (IWL), a subsidiary of Gujarat Fluorochemicals
Limited (GFL), has been recently awarded a 170 MW order from Continuum
Wind Energy, a Singapore based company. The Singapore based firm is indirectly majority owned by Morgan
Stanley Infrastructure Partners. The project is to be constructed in and
around Ratlam and Mandsaur districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The order, valued in excess of Rs 900 crore, is one of the largest
wind turbine orders in the country for a single project, a release
issued by IWL, a part of over US $ 2 billion Inox Group, involved in
diverse businesses including industrial gases, refrigerants, chemicals,
renewable energy and entertainment among others, said.
The order is for 85 units of IWL’s newly launched 2 MW wind turbine
with 100 meter rotor diameter, a variant of its 2 MW wind turbine
platform. “Inox will also carry out the erection and commissioning as well as
the operations and maintenance of the project,” the release mentioned. Presently, IWL which has manufacturing plants in Gujarat and Himachal
Pradesh, is implementing projects across Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya
Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh. The new order will be executed
from IWL’s manufacturing unit at Rohika village in Ahmedabad district.
