Ener-T
and Indian Oil Corporation will be sharing their insights into the
technical innovations being planned at the CSP R&D center under
development in Jodhpur at the INDIASOL 2014 conference.
The concentrated solar power (CSP) industry
in India is bridging the gap between Phase I and Phase II of the
National Solar Mission (NSM) with government initiatives such as two
pilot projects and also the recent announcement a CSP research and
development center opening in 2015.
The center will be the first of its kind in
India, it is classified as an experimental plant where CSP technologies,
storage concept and materials will be researched and innovated in an
attempt to achieve levelized cost of energy on a continuous basis for
upcoming CSP projects in India.
There have been many lessons learnt from Phase I that shall be taken into consideration at the center such as technology choice, accurate DNI readings, site selection and building up a local supply chain. For this reason, the center is promising news for the industry as CSP begins to take off again after a large gap between Phase I and Phase II.
