Orient Green Power Company Limited (OGPL), a renewable energy generator in India with presence in wind and biomass energy, has crossed 500MW operating capacity.
Following the recent commissioning of three biomass units in Narsinghpur (Madhya Pradesh), Kishanganj(Rajasthan) and Marikal (Andhra Pradesh) through its subsidiaries, the on ground operational capacity of the company now exceeds 500MW, according to a statement from the company.
As of date, the company has 416MW of wind assets and 86MW of biomass assets. OGPL is on track to commission a further 40MW of capacity across both verticals.
Orient Green Power, part of the Shriram Group, has its wind assets in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka. The company is also a leader in the biomass energy business with a total capacity of 86MW.
"Despite several well-known challenges in the power sector, we have soldiered on with our capacity addition plans to attain scale in both of our verticals. This milestone of 500MW represents capacities which are installed and operating with fuel sourcing arrangements and power offtake contracts in place," said S Venkatachalam, managing director, OGPL.
